About Mobile Social Networking Nepal

Mobile Social Networking Nepal (Mobile Nepal) is a community of like-minded organizations and individuals who are interested in and/ or willing to work around mobile technologies. It wants to foster a community of practice around Mobile Ecosystem in Nepal to encourage and facilitate discussions and discourses around issues, opportunities and challenges around mobile technologies in Nepal. It is an initiative of YoungInnovations Pvt. Ltd. and infoDev, The World Bank.

Our objective is to support the creation of social networking hub in Kathmandu, Nepal to develop a mobile applications community of practice, to foster a competition for ideas to encourage entrepreneurship, and to establish mentorship opportunities for developers, by linking them with mobile industry professionals locally and internationally. Additionally, we will be providing vital support for the creation of content for a mobile applications community of practice, along with other mentoring and concept incubation activities. We will encourage and facilitate the interaction of mobile application developers with a wider community of colleagues using a combined approach of online and face2face mechanisms. In both cases, an emphasis will be given to more informal approaches whereby both mobile application developers and community members are able to generate ideas and initiate discussions around mobile technology and take take it forward to implement the ideas collectively. Both types of activities will be constantly monitored and supervised to generate meaningful results in the creation of an active mobile community of practice.
