The Mobile Social Networking Nepal(also known as MobileNepal) and Nepalelse Young Entrepreneurs' Forum(NYEF) jointly organized the Pivot Nepal Press Meet Up. The Pivot Nepal is an initiative to bring out entrepreneurial spirit within mobile applications developer community in Nepal. It is a platform for mobile app developers and other mobile enthusiasts to bring forward their creative and innovative mobile app ideas, products and prototypes that has the potential to stand out as a sustainable business. The objective of the press meet up was to announce the beginning of the competition, release concepts notes and other important information to the press, and call for participation from the interested people.

KATHMANDU: Mobile payment portals can now gain momentum as the central bank has officially recognised it as part of the branchless banking model.

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) issued a circular today allowing branchless banking agents of banks to make payments through mobile phone technology. Earlier, the central bank had only authorised banks to consider Point-of-Sale (PoS) machine transactions under the branchless banking system.

AppCampus is a mobile application accelerator program managed by Aalto University in Espoo, Finland. This is an 18 million euro joint investment between Microsoft and Nokia to foster mobile application development on Windows Phone and any other Nokia platform.

KATHMANDU: Finaccess (Hello Paisa) has been selected as the top three final nominees for the ‘Innovator of the Year Award - 2012’ by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA)’s Innovation Against Poverty (IAP) programme.

The IAP annual conference and awards ceremony will be held on November 26 in Stockholm, Sweden, where the award will be presented to the ‘Innovator of the Year’ by the director general of SIDA after selection by eminent global panellists.

KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom (NT) has lost six per cent market share in a year, as Ncell surpassed it by three per cent in terms of market share of subscribers. Ncell has 48 per cent market share of subscribers as of mid-August, against 45 per cent market share of Nepal Telecom.
